Summary

The 17th Tripartite Presidents Meeting (TPM 17) will be held on December 16, 2020 among the leading environmental research institutions in Japan, Korea, and China: the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES; Japan); the National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER; Korea); and the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences (CRAES; China). The objective of TPM is to discuss future research direction in the field of environmental research, as well as collaboration among the three institutes including collaborative research to furthering environmental research among the three countries. With due consideration to the pandemic, TPM 17 Main Meeting will be held online.

1. Overview

TPM is an annual meeting since 2004 which the President of CRAES first called out for with the objective of furthering environmental research in Japan, Korea, and China through efforts among NIES, NIER, and CRAES, the leading environmental research institutions in their respective countries. The three institutes take turns to host the meeting and NIES will host TPM 17 online this year.

The three Presidents of NIES, NIER, CRAES, and researchers affiliated with the three institutes will attend the Main Meeting to exchange information, to review the progress and plans of joint research activities, and to discuss future collaboration for environmental research enhancement in Asian region.

2. TPM 17

TPM 17 will be held online on December 16, 2020. The President of NIES invited Presidents of both NIER and CRAES with their researchers and scientists to actively participate in the Main Meeting with NIES’ researchers.
